User Roles & Permissions

Clarity provides granular control over what each user can see and do. This is especially important in jewelry retail where cost visibility and inventory access need to be tightly managed.

Permissions cover actions like adding inventory, viewing cost information, and making edits. Roles and permissions are customizable in settings.

Yes. Clarity separates cost (what you paid the supplier) from replacement cost (current market value). Your sales team sees the replacement cost, while the original purchase cost is only visible to users with the appropriate permission. This protects your margins while giving staff the pricing context they need.

Permissions are granular and cover the key areas where you need control:

  • Cost visibility: Who can see your actual supplier cost vs. only seeing replacement cost
  • Inventory management: Who can add, edit, or delete inventory items
  • Price adjustments: Who can apply discounts during a sale
  • Reporting access: Who can view sales reports and performance data
  • Settings access: Who can modify store configuration, categories, and user accounts

Each permission can be toggled independently per role, so you can create a role like “Sales Associate” that can process sales and see replacement cost but can’t view reports or edit inventory.

Go to Settings and navigate to the Roles section. Create a new role, give it a name (e.g., “Floor Manager” or “Sales Associate”), and toggle the individual permissions on or off. Then assign that role to the appropriate user accounts. You can adjust roles at any time without disrupting active sessions.

In jewelry retail, your sales staff needs pricing context to negotiate with customers, but they don’t need to know your actual supplier cost. Replacement cost reflects the current market value of the piece. When gold prices go up, the replacement cost should go up too, even if you bought the piece at a lower price months ago. This gives your sales team an accurate baseline for pricing discussions while keeping your real margins private.
